What our technician did
- Installed the Bryant 926TB furnace: the new 2-stage furnace was set in place according to building standards.
- Added a filter box and filter: a new filter box and filter were installed on the return.
- Ran a new exhaust pipe: a new plastic exhaust pipe was fitted for the high-efficiency furnace.
- Installed a new drain line: a fresh drain line was run from the high-efficiency furnace.
- Fitted plenum adaptors: supply and return plenum adaptors were installed.
- Rebuilt the return and ducting: a new return plenum and duct, plus an additional air duct, were added.
- Installed a floor air grille: a new flooring air grille was put in place.
- Added new dampers: new dampers were installed and the airflow was adjusted.
- Installed a new heat pump coil: a new heat pump coil completed the system.
Why the ductwork mattered here
A high-efficiency furnace can only deliver what the ductwork lets through. Rebuilding the return, adding a duct, and adjusting the dampers means the new unit can actually move the air it is designed to, so every room gets its share of heat instead of the rooms closest to the furnace getting most of it.
