Trusted HVAC service in Berkeley
Berkeley's varied terrain - from the warmer flatlands near downtown to the cool, fog-touched Berkeley Hills - creates genuinely different heating and cooling needs block by block, and its progressive electrification push has made heat pumps the upgrade of the moment. Nur HVAC extends full certified service to Berkeley, covering heat pump installation, ductless mini-split installation, air conditioner installation, and furnace installation across the city.
The bay-influenced flats stay mild enough that cooling is occasional rather than constant, while the hillside neighborhoods run noticeably cooler and lean heating-heavy - conditions where a modern heat pump earns its value by handling both modes in a single efficient system. Berkeley's strong all-electric policy momentum also means heat pumps are the natural replacement when aging gas furnaces come due.

HVAC built for Berkeley homes
Nur HVAC brings its San Mateo County certified crews into every corner of Berkeley - the craftsman bungalows of Elmwood and Thousand Oaks, the densely wooded lots of Claremont and Berkeley Hills, the mixed-era housing stock of North Berkeley and Westbrae, and the apartments and student rentals around Southside. The city's abundance of pre-1960 homes means gravity furnaces, underinsulated attics, and little or no existing ductwork are common finds - situations where a ductless mini-split retrofit often makes more practical and financial sense than forcing new ducts into a century-old structure.

What heating and cooling system works best in Berkeley?
For most Berkeley homes, a modern heat pump is the best all-in-one option - it provides both efficient heating and cooling from a single system. For hillside or split-level homes and additions, a ductless mini-split is often the cleanest solution.

“NUR installed a ductless multi-zone Mitsubishi mini-split system for us this spring after our 100-year-old lovely monster of a gas boiler died. It's so far out of code that no one will repair it, and we were tired of being cold! The new system is electric with a heat pump on the roof, and it includes AC for the six days a year when my usually foggy neighborhood needs it. We chose NUR because they offered competitive prices and clear communication, and they were able to place the indoor units exactly where we wanted them. The installation took just a couple of days and they were kind and efficient. If you are looking to get a job like this done, you should give them a call.”
“We used Nur HVAC to replace gas furnace with a heat pump inverter, replace the aging duct work and gas water heater with a heat pump water heater, all in the same contract. Our project manager, Arthur was on-time for the scoping appointment. He took time to understand our needs, investigated the attic, ducts and all the existing equipment, before making any recommendations. He designed the optimal system for our house to be cost effective, provide highest comfort and be energy efficient. He was not pushy and was upfront about the ballpark estimates and timeline. He also walked us thru the various rebates that are available for the replacements from local utilities. Arthur's quote was very competitive, in fact better than those quoted to us by Costco referred contractors. Nur's installation crew - Eldar, Bhakridin, were very professional and thorough. They didn't rush the job and left the job site clean and clutter free each day. They accommodated our requests for placing the electrical wires and conduits so they are not in the way. All the equipment both indoor and outdoor were cleanly laid out, secured and wiped down before hand off. Always smiling and respectful, one of the best installation crew we have had. As a white glove contractor they took care of all the permitting, inspection paperwork w/ the city, all the paper work for us to receive the rebates. They even completed the warranty registration with the manufacturers for all the equipment! We would highly recommend Arthur and Nur HVAC to anyone in the Bay Area needing heating and cooling solutions. We would definitely be going back to them ourselves when the need arises.”
“I cannot recommend Artur and the team behind NUR HVAC enough. I thank them every single day that my house is so much more comfortable than it was. Their installation of my heat pump was top-notch, and they didn't deceive me like a lot of other contractors. Stand-up guys doing excellent work at a reasonable price. You will never regret hiring them. And if even the tiniest thing goes wrong, they will come back and make it right, at no additional cost. If you need an honest, trustworthy HVAC installer, they are by far the best I've found. Super-sweet people and incredibly skilled engineers. You really can't ask for anything better than that.”

“Excellent experience. We requested a routine furnace inspection and were able to be scheduled the next day with Islam. Islam was incredibly professional, thorough, and efficient. He did not try to upsell us on any repairs, and he even took the time to successfully troubleshoot why our attic light wasn't working (saving us an expensive electrical visit later on). If we need repairs or replacement in the future, Nur HVAC will be the first company we seek out.”
“NUR HVAC just completed installation of a Mitsubishi heat pump system in my San Francisco home, replacing a 38-year-old Lennox gas furnace. I couldn't be more pleased with the quality of the work and the professionalism shown during the process. In particular, I wanted to commend Artur and Vladimir, the NUR technicians who did the beautiful install. Both guys were extremely polite and respectful, for example, putting on shoe covers whenever they entered the house. Artur was also very fastidious in running the ancillary electrical feeds to my main service panel. What a neat job! Fedor, who came to do the initial assessment, was a great resource and answered all my questions regarding scheduling, warranty, maintenance, etc. He offered several options during the bidding process without any pressure to come to a quick decision or attempts at “upselling.” In the end, their quote was very competitive, and fair given the quality of the work and the final product. Being a Mitsubishi Diamond Contractor, NUR was able to offer a 12-year warranty on parts and labor. The bottom line is NUR is a top quality outfit and it was easy to see that they take great pride in their work and genuinely care about their customers. NUR may be the best contractor I’ve ever used. Definitely, 5-Star!”
“Nur HVAC recently installed a mini-split system in our SF condo; one in the living room, and one each in the two bedrooms. They installed the heat pump outside on the balcony. I was impressed with their work ethic and the way they kept our space clean during the installation. They cleaned up at the end of each work day and were very respectful and thoughtful of our home, our dog, and us. They communicate clearly and quickly; I would highly recommend them to install an AC system.”
“This visit was a maintenance check on our 2 mini splits that were installed about 18 months previous . Islam D showed me how to clean the filters ( which was easy ) and he inspected the unit on our roof. The visit was prompt, professional and informative as I had several questions on the workings of the mini splits. We are very pleased with these units and the service we've received from Nur HVAC.”
“I used Nur to install a new heat pump and they were terrific. I sought quotes from a number of competitors. Not only were they competitively priced but they have been super responsive and professional throughout. Fedor patiently and thoroughly responded to every question that ChatGPT could throw at him (through me)! The installation team - Alex and Vadim - were awesome and worked went above and beyond.”
“Many thanks to NUR HVAC for their outstanding customer service and job done. Our central air conditioning unit broke at the most inconvenient time and they were able to move things along quickly to help us out. The Inspector came out to assess everything and was very helpful in explaining what we needed. Within a few days a new unit was scheduled for installation. Eldar and Ruslan were the installers, and the very best at that. They worked fast and efficiently, respecting our home, and keeping us informed as they worked step by step. The installers cleaned up the interior and exterior after work was completed and gave us very clear instructions on the controls and maintenance details. We would highly recommend NUR HVAC services. Thanks again.”
“Phenomenal Service – Furnace Replacement & Heat Pump Installation! I can’t say enough good things about the team at Nur HVAC! They recently installed a brand-new AC heat pump system for us and replaced our old gas furnace, and …”
“We had an excellent experience with this HVAC company from start to finish. Fedor was incredibly prompt and professional at every appointment, provided a clear, comprehensive job specification, and the pricing was very fair and transparent. They installed a Mitsubishi ceiling mini split, and the installation itself was flawless. His installer, Volodymyr, and the rest of the team truly went above and beyond — they could not have worked harder, nor been nicer or more conscientious in our home. They were respectful, detail-oriented, and left everything spotless. It’s rare to find a company that combines responsiveness, fair pricing, and such high-quality workmanship. We highly recommend them.”
“Very professional service and high quality work. Fedor has alway been patently answer my questions and explain things in details, responding to me quickly even during weekends. Aleksandr and Aziz did a superior job installing a Mitsubishi heatpump system and replaced the entire duct system. I can see that they were very organized and also took care to keep things neat and clean. Highly recommended!”
