Mitsubishi Heat Pump Installation in San Bruno
This San Bruno home came to us with an aging system and ductwork that had seen better days. The plan was a full heat pump installation: a new Mitsubishi 3 ton heat pump for heating and cooling, a brand new duct system with 10 vents and 1 return, and a Rheem heat pump water heater to round things out. Our crew spent about nine hours on site getting it all connected.
Before any new equipment could go in, the old ductwork had to come out. Because of the age of the home, that removal was handled by a licensed asbestos abatement contractor, which is standard practice we always follow when older duct material is involved.

Replacing the Old Ductwork
Once the crawlspace was clear, our team ran new insulated ducts across the joists, wrapped and sealed at every joint. You can see the fresh metallic duct runs snaking through the framing below the house, supported properly and insulated the whole way to cut down on heat loss before the air even reaches the vents.

Ten supply vents and a single return were tied into this new duct layout, which gives the home much more even airflow than the old system ever managed.

New Heat Pump System and Air Handler
With the ductwork done, we set the Mitsubishi air handler into its closet and got the electrical, refrigerant, and controls connected. This job also included a surge protective device to help guard the new equipment, a smart air cleaning system for better indoor air, and the city permit and inspection that go along with a full HVAC changeout.

Alongside the heat pump, we installed a 65 gallon Rheem heat pump water heater, so this home now handles both space conditioning and hot water with efficient electric equipment. If you’re considering a similar upgrade, our heat pump installation page walks through what the process typically involves.
Projects like this one in San Bruno are a good reminder that a heat pump installation is rarely just about the outdoor unit — the ductwork underneath the house matters just as much for comfort and efficiency.

“We could not be happier with Nur HVAC. They installed 2 HVAC systems in our home and have been absolutely fantastic ever since. Whatever an issue comes up they respond quickly and get it fixed without delays. They are reliable, professional, knowledgeable and always willing to help. It's such a relief to have someone we can trust to take care of our home's electrical and HVAC needs. We highly recommend them to anyone looking for a dependable professional who truly stands behind its work!”

“We installed a heat pump recently to be able to have AC and to replace an old furnace. Reached out to a few HVAC contractors and decided to go with NUR to install a Mitsubishi heat pump. David was our first point of contact and one of the main reasons we chose NUR. When he came to visit and provide an initial estimate, he explained the different options available and what to consider for each one, from duel fuel options to heat pumps. He was not pushy and was very patient with our questions. Afterwards, he provided a few quotes for us and answered questions via email and phone promptly. When it came to the installation, his team (Artur, Ilias, and others) was great as well; they were all very respectful and took great care in making sure the install was done properly. The install took 3 days and David came to check in towards the end of the install to make sure everything was working properly and things were cleaned up. NUR helped schedule the HERS test and city inspection afterwards. Overall, a fantastic experience. I would highly recommend working with NUR for any HVAC needs!”

“David and his team (Igor, Alexendar, Artur) were amazing. We replaced our 25 year old gas furnace with a Mitsubishi heat pump, which also added air-conditioning as a bonus! I couldn't be happier with their service. Many companies aggressively push you to leave a review after a project, while others truly earn it. In the case of NUR, it's definitely the latter. They went above and beyond my expectations in terms of ensuring the system was working as efficiently as possible. Our installation went super smoothly, and as you can see from the photos, they did a phenomenal job. The install is clean and tidy. Speaking of tidy, they even vacuumed my entire utility space under the home. I don't think it's been that clean down there sine we bought the house almost 20 years ago! Anyways, after the installation we ran into a difficult to troubleshoot issue related to my pre-existing ductwork. It had nothing to do with the work NUR did, but David was absolutely relentless in trying to figure out what was going on. He didn't care that it wasn't due to anything they did wrong, he wanted to make sure the system worked optimally, and made many phone calls and researched the issue, until he figured it out. I am quite confident that 9 of 10 companies would have simply said "the system is working within spec" and washed their hands of it. But David knew that something wasn't quite right, and without me pushing him, set off to ensure he figured it out. I really, really appreciate a business owner who operates this way. Beyond that, I will say that he and his team were incredibly responsive throughout the project. He was typically available by phone or text, and if he didn't answer the phone, I would receive a return call usually within 20 minutes. Lastly, they quoted me a very fair price for a Mitsubishi unit that was a higher-end unit compared to what his competitors were quoting. In fact, the efficiency rating for the unit was high enough that it qualified for the added $2,000 federal tax credit, which the other units did not. Highly, highly recommend NUR.”

“NUR installed a ductless multi-zone Mitsubishi mini-split system for us this spring after our 100-year-old lovely monster of a gas boiler died. It's so far out of code that no one will repair it, and we were tired of being cold! The new system is electric with a heat pump on the roof, and it includes AC for the six days a year when my usually foggy neighborhood needs it. We chose NUR because they offered competitive prices and clear communication, and they were able to place the indoor units exactly where we wanted them. The installation took just a couple of days and they were kind and efficient. If you are looking to get a job like this done, you should give them a call.”

“NUR HVAC did a fantastic job installing our new heat pump system. Fedor was great during the consultation, taking time to answer all my questions, and he stayed responsive throughout the whole process. His team was professional and respectful of our home during the installation. Excited to have AC when it gets warm. Fully recommend NUR HVAC!”
“Islam D was great! He arrived on time and was thorough in his diagnostic. He patiently explained everything he was doing and gave me honest advice. Problem appears solved but he trained me on what to look out for and I will call back if I need a bigger fix. Would recommend 10 out of 10.”
“I hired Nur HVAC for a major upgrade to my home's system, and they did an incredible job. The project involved converting my entire house from a gas heat pump to a new all-electric Mitsubishi system, and they also installed a split unit in my garage. Their prices were very reasonable, but what truly stood out was the professional quality of the installation. The team performed a very careful evaluation of all my existing ducts and vents to ensure the new system was installed for optimal performance. The work speaks for itself. It's been almost two months since the installation, and everything is working top-notch. I'm super happy I chose Nur HVAC and highly recommend them.”
“NUR HVAC just completed installation of a Mitsubishi heat pump system in my San Francisco home, replacing a 38-year-old Lennox gas furnace. I couldn't be more pleased with the quality of the work and the professionalism shown during the process. In particular, I wanted to commend Artur and Vladimir, the NUR technicians who did the beautiful install. Both guys were extremely polite and respectful, for example, putting on shoe covers whenever they entered the house. Artur was also very fastidious in running the ancillary electrical feeds to my main service panel. What a neat job! Fedor, who came to do the initial assessment, was a great resource and answered all my questions regarding scheduling, warranty, maintenance, etc. He offered several options during the bidding process without any pressure to come to a quick decision or attempts at “upselling.” In the end, their quote was very competitive, and fair given the quality of the work and the final product. Being a Mitsubishi Diamond Contractor, NUR was able to offer a 12-year warranty on parts and labor. The bottom line is NUR is a top quality outfit and it was easy to see that they take great pride in their work and genuinely care about their customers. NUR may be the best contractor I’ve ever used. Definitely, 5-Star!”
“Our old A/C unit went out (dramatically spewing coolant everywhere) in the middle of summer. We contacted Nur HVAC and got them to come take a look at the situation. They recommended replacing our old furnace with a new heat pump along with the new A/C unit. It took a few weeks for a permit, but then they scheduled the job promptly. It was very labor intensive...removing the old equipment, building a new platform with plywood, installing everything. It took 3 full days, but they did an excellent job and cleaned everything up completely when they were finished. The system looks and works so much better now. Workers were polite and respectful. Would definitely recommend.”
“I am extremely pleased with my new Mitsubishi heat pump installed by Nur HVAC. Everyone in California should use a heat pump due to the high cost of electricity, and Nur HVAC should be your installer. My installation was performed in two parts: the upstairs in Mar 2025, then downstairs in May 2026. I commend Nur HVAC for their patience during this protracted and difficult installation. After an initial assessment to determine my needs, the team arrived to plan the installation of the upstairs hardware. They asked many questions to figure it out. It only took 5 days for my on-site representatives Konstantin and Maxim to finish the work, which I felt was clean and neat; the electrical, refrigerant, and condensate lines blended into the existing arrangement seamlessly. By the end of day 5, I had hot and cold air at the touch of a button. About a year later, my remodeling had progressed enough for the installation of the downstairs units. Sadly, other contractors inadvertently cut the 220V supply line to the 2nd floor units. And while they meant well, these other contractors totally messed up the 220V supply line for the 1st floor units, running it to the 2nd floor breaker box instead! Maxim and Konstantin went above and beyond the call of duty, doing jobs that weren't theirs. They re-routed the 1st floor electrical line to the 1st floor breaker box, and got everything working. They were quick to suggest best placement of the indoor units. Additionally, they figured out a far better arrangement of the outdoor unit and refrigerant lines. The installation was more concealed and neat afterwards.”
“This visit was a maintenance check on our 2 mini splits that were installed about 18 months previous . Islam D showed me how to clean the filters ( which was easy ) and he inspected the unit on our roof. The visit was prompt, professional and informative as I had several questions on the workings of the mini splits. We are very pleased with these units and the service we've received from Nur HVAC.”
“Very pleased with their heat pump installation. I got three quotes and theirs was just a little lower than the others, but I chose them because they explained everything very well. They did not try to upsell like the other companies, which I appreciated. Installation went quickly and everyone was very pleasant. Photo with Arthur and our heat pump. Update, year and a half later: everything is working well. They helped me apply for the rebate after it was installed. I asked if I should do maintenance and they showed me what kind of filter to get. David came by and checked everything over (2nd photo) and didn't even charge because nothing was needed beyond changing the filter.”
